Armadillos go northward as the temperature rises!

By Kids of RMB

Armadillos in the USA are native to the South! But in these recent years, they have been pushing north. Scientists believe that climate change expanded their range by producing milder winters. So they started to inhabit new areas including parts of the Blue Ridge Mountains! The Guardian reported. Armadillos first appeared in South America. They are commonly seen in Texas and they are its state’s official small mammal. But now, they are reaching far as Missouri, Nebraska, and Iowa where they are not supposed to be in. Armadillos are able to hold their breath for 6 minutes and they crossed rivers and lakes by inflating their intestines and just floating. This is a problem because armadillos aren’t made to live in the north. So, let’s fix the climate crisis so armadillos can return back to the south!
