How the Climate Crisis is driving Mediterranean Coral Populations to Collapse?

By Kids of RMB

Today we are going to talk about how the Climate Crisis is driving Mediterranean Coral Populations to Collapse!

A new study led by teams of the Faculty of Biology, the Biodiversity Research Institute(IRBio) of the UB, and the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM-CSIC) of Barcelona have revealed that marine heatwaves are bringing down the population of the coral! Coral is extremely important for coral reefs because they provide shelter for fish and other marine life! Coral can turn white and die and this can damage the coral reefs!

The climate crisis is severely affecting the marine ecosystems worldwide and the Mediterranean is no exception! In particular, marine heatwaves accosted with climate change are causing big problems!

Climate change is a huge problem for aquatic flora and fauna! These aquatic animals are at risk of extinction if we don’t do something quick! So let’s stop using pollutants and use something clean to make our planet a better place to live for our future generations to come!!

This planet is in our hands! Let’s make it a better place for our future generations to come.
