The global “Plastic Flood And Waste” Reaches The Arctic!

By Kids of RMB

Due to plastic pollution, the North such as the Arctic also can’t escape the Plastic Pollution Global problem!

An international study just showed that the flood of old, used plastic has reached the Northern arctic spheres. This plastic has been transported from rivers, oceans, and beaches to the arctic. High amounts of microplastics which is a small type of plastic could be found on the ocean floor. This plastic is not only bad for the environment; it can also contribute to a massive percentage of pollution.

Today, more than 19 to 23 million metric tons of plastic litter that is thrown away from us end up in the waters of the world! This amount of plastic is more than 2 truckloads of plastic per minute! That is a lot of severe pollution we are doing! Scientists estimate that the plastic debris emitted each year will double by 2045!

These consequences are very serious for us and our environment. Many animals like sea turtles and sperm Wales come into contact with plastic and microplastic in the world’s oceans. These animals come into contact from tropical beaches to the deepest ocean trenches like the marina trench!

Plastic Pollution causes so much pollution and is in the process of putting many animals into extinction! Let’s do something quick and save our Mother Earth before it is too late!! Earth needs people like us to protect and make it a better place to live.
