Remote Sensing Technology Reduces Urban Air Pollution!

By Kids of RMB

Today we are going to talk about remote sensing technology which could help reduce pollution!

Cities that adopt roadside emissions sensors to detect high polluting vehicles could reduce pollution and improve urban air quality according to a recent study.

Vehicle emissions are the main source of air pollution in the urban environment worldwide which is impacting the climate and health of millions of kids. Also, kids are developing asthma in urban areas because of the high CO2 and Carbon Monoxide in the air. Reducing air pollution is a key target in countries like the USA but this is a very hard thing to do because fewer electric cars are manufactured!

“Car exhaust fumes contain many poisonous gases such as Carbon Monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter that cause lung cancer, heart failure, and other diseases!”

Remote sensing equipment was invented where it senses the car’s license plate so these vehicles could be identified if they need repair or not! This is a very smart thing because we could finally make all of the environmentalist’s goals like mine come true!

Let’s hope that this technology will be expanded to all parts of the world and we can go one step closer to making our earth a better place to live.
