The decline of plant pollinators!

By Kids of RMB

Okay, today we are going to talk about the decline of biodiversity due to the decline of plant pollinators!

Dr. James Rodger, a postdoctoral fellow in the Department Of Mathematical Sciences at Stellenbosch University (SU) says this is the first study to provide a global estimate of the importance of pollinators for plants in natural ecosystems.

23 scientists conducted a study and found out that most of the pollination animals disappeared! Plants can only make a few seeds without pollinators. This is called self-fertilization. But pollinators play an important role in a plant’s development! Because of the decrease of pollinators, biodiversity is declining too! This means that flowers will no longer grow!

So, let’s help our environment to bring those pollinators back to make our earth a better place to live!
