Tonga volcano: Plume reached halfway to space

By Kids of RMB

Today we are going to talk about the major disaster which is on everyone’s mind: the Tonga explosion!

An underwater volcanic eruption in Tonga suddenly exploded with so much force! All of that ash rose above sea level onto the earth’s surface! The most powerful eruption came from Mount Pinatubo in 1991! Its plume rose more than 40kms! But the Tonga underwater explosion rose more than 30 miles nearly into space! This explosion triggered a massive tsunami which affected cities in Japan, Australia, the USA, etc!

All of that ash spread everywhere and conquered so much of the earth! This eruption must have caused so much pollution with its dangerous CO2 and more choking gases which went into our atmosphere! Volcanic eruptions can be very deadly because of the choking gases they are able to produce! It is even deadly for the earth because the ash can spread! 1 Yellowstone supervolcano eruption can knock out the entire earth with ash!

Let’s collectively make our earth a better place to live for our future generations to come.
