What happens when a battery is recycled?

By Kids of RMB

Joey was playing with his drone when suddenly, his controller battery died! The controller is powered by an alkaline battery! Let’s see what happens! Joey wants to recycle it and he dropped it in a battery bin! There are many types of used batteries so a truck transports them to a sorting facility. A sorting facility is where the batteries are sorted by their types. If all the batteries are blended in together, it will cause a fire 🔥! So guess which battery Joey even recycled in the first place? He recycled alkaline batteries 🔋. So the sorted alkaline batteries are taken to the alkaline battery recycling plant!

Alkaline batteries have zinc anode & manganese cathode! These materials can energize plant growth mainly corn 🌽. So the batteries are smashed and the casings of the batteries are removed! Only the zinc & manganese are there for further processing. Then these materials are made into other reusable items including batteries. Also, zinc and manganese can be mixed with fertilizer to energize corn growth. So that is how Joey’s battery was decomposed into a new item.

Joey one day went to the store and found the same company battery that he used for his remote which is Duracell Inc. Maybe it may be his battery that was remade into a brand new battery.
