Greenhouse gas pollution caused by human activities trapped 49% more heat in the atmosphere in 2021 than in 1990! This was according to a study by NOAA scientists!
NOAA’s Annual Greenhouse Gas Index, known as the AGGI, tracks increases in the warming of the earth caused by the influence of human emissions of heat-trapping gas including Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Nitrogen Oxide, CFC, etc. These extra gases which are getting involved with the warming of the earth are trapping more and more heat slowly making the earth hotter and hotter.
The AGGI is indexed to 1990, the baseline year of when the first Climate Change Assessment was published.
“The AGGI Tells us that we are driving global warming!” said Ariel Stein, a director at the NOAA’s GML. Let’s hope that we can stop the use of excessive gases to halt climate change!
