For every 3 trees dying from drought in the Amazon rainforest, a fourth tree when it is not even directly affected will die as well!
In simple terms, these kinds of events occurring is what scientists have found using network analysis to understand the complex workings of one of Earth’s most valuable and biodiverse carbon sinks. There are many regions that are at high risk of being desertified or being turned into savannah! The clearing of the forests down south is weakening the resilience for multiple years!
Forests and Rainforests need water to thrive! Water is the only substance that keeps our land moist and good! When a heat wave occurs, there is usually a lot of rain as the earth doesn’t want a drought occurring! But in the Amazon Rainforest, there wasn’t rain for a very long time! This bought even severe drought conditions in the Amazon basin. The lack of rain in the forest is very life-threatening to the trees and all of the animals.
No rain is putting so much of the forest under stress and this is causing plants to slowly start dying! Deforestation and Drought are the main reasons the Amazon rainforest is slowly starting to disappear! We rely on this forest for Oxygen for us and the animals! Let’s stop deforestation and climate change right now because trees are very important to mankind!
