Let’s talk about Agricultural Waste!

By Kids of RMB

Today we are going to talk about Agricultural Waste!

Agricultural waste is unwanted or unsalable materials produced from agricultural operations. This is related to the growing of crops or domestication which is the raising of animals. Some farmers are known to take their agricultural waste and burn it! This produces a lot of CO2 which has a humongous impact on the environment!

Some examples of agricultural waste include Grape Vines, Fruit-bearing trees, Vegetables, Date Palm Fronds, etc. The following examples are not classified as agricultural waste: Trash, Plastic, Rubber, Garbage, Tires, Pallets, Oil Filters, etc. All of this waste is basically Domestic waste which we talked about on Tuesday!

A United Nations report released on Thursday, March 4, 2021, estimates 17% of the food produced globally each year is wasted. That amounts to 931 million tons of food, or about double what researchers believed was being wasted a decade ago. That’s a lot of food that’s getting wasted.

We need more companies like Takachar and people like Vidyut Mohan, Kevin Kung to address this problem of burning 🔥 agricultural waste. We also need companies to come forward and address the problem of storing the food and using it to bring down the 931 million tons of food that are getting wasted. I was surprised to see this as there are millions of people without food and we are wasting a lot of food!

Let’s collectively make our mother earth a better place to live for our future generations to come!!!
