Ever wondered why Africa is very hot? It is mainly because of climate change. Because of the extreme hotness in Africa, the land is slowly being converted into a desert in a process called desertification! Desertification is when land is slowly converted into a desert as a result of droughts and little or no rain. Due to the lack of water, resources, the soil is also contributing to desertification. Inappropriate agriculture like the use of chemicals as fertilizers can also contribute to desertification as this kills the soil and stops all the life from developing in soil.
Deforestation is basically demolishing and cutting down the trees that plays a major role in desertification because of no trees, no water. The rise in global temperatures would also be likely to accelerate desertification processes! Nearly 1/5th of the people worldwide are suffering from desertification right now! Desertification is killing many people as a result of little or no water or food!
Let’s stop making our fertile lands into a big desert and let’s stop global warming and poor irrigation processes to make our Mother Earth a better place to live!
